Research Abstract

Technologies to induce targeted protein degradation have been established recently, which include protein degradation induced by PROTACs and SNIPERs. They are chimeric compounds in which a ligand for a target protein is linked to another ligand for an E3 ubiquitin ligase, thereby inducing polyubiquitylation and proteasomal degradation of the target protein. Substitution of the target ligand allows us to develop a novel PROTAC/SNIPER against protein of interest, and therefore, this technology is regarded as a promising platform technology for novel drug development.

In this laboratory, we are trying to develop novel technologies for protein degradation, which include cancer-cell specific protein degradation and cellular-compartment specific protein degradation. We also aim to develop novel drugs based on targeted protein degradation.
